A peripheral for use with the Kookaberry
This is an OUTPUT device. It is a very inexpensive passive digital device which uses the Kookaberry to generate the “buzz” signal
FEATURES
- Wide voltage range from 3.3V to 5V
- Standard assembling structure (two 3mm holes with multiple of 5cm as interval)
- High quality connector
- Immersion gold surface
SPECIFICATION
- Type: Digital
- Power supply: 5VDC
Using the Buzzer
Connect a Kookaberry to your PC or Mac, and plug the Buzzer Module into socket P1 on your Kookaberry.
Open KookaBlockly and create the programme shown below to sound out the message SOS.
Go to the KookaBlockly tutorial Blink an LED and send a distress signal for more fun with LED’s and a buzzer
How does it work?
This is a passive buzzer which receives its “buzz” instruction from a square wave on the signal wire generated by the Kookaberry. It is powered from the Kookaberry’s power supply (Vcc = 3,3v) on the other two wires.
It transforms electrical energy into sound energy through the piezoelectric effect. Electrical contacts are placed on the two faces of a disk of piezoelectric material and then supporting the disk at the edges in an enclosure. When a DC voltage is applied across the two electrodes, the piezoelectric material mechanically deforms due to the applied voltage.
