Ambient Light Sensor

A peripheral for use with the Kookaberry

The DF Robot ambient light sensor is a photodiode which detects the level of ambient light and sends the value back to the Kookaberry as a proportion of the 3.3v available at the pin interface.

FEATURES
  • Wide voltage range from 3.3V to 5V
  • Standard assembling structure (two 3mm holes with multiple of 5cm(1.97″) as interval)
  • High quality connector
  • Immersion gold surface
SPECIFICATION
  • Supply Voltage: 3.3V to 5V
  • Illumination range : 1 Lux to 6000 Lux
  • Responsive time : 15us
  • Interface: Analog
  • Size:22x30mm(0.87″x1.18″)
How does it work?

A photodiode generates a current when light hits the body of the diode. It can be thought of as the opposite of an LED where light is generated when a current is present. Sometimes it is also called a photo-detector, a light detector, or a photo-sensor.
