KookaBlocs is the newest member of the AustSTEM Kookaberry ecosystem, bringing drag-and-drop Micropython coding to Chromebooks, Windows, Mac, and Linux — directly in the Chrome (or Edge) browser.

Launch KookaBlocs Now

To get started, simply open:

This launches the full KookaBlocs environment, with familiar block categories and features from KookaBlockly.

How to Use with a Kookaberry or Picoboard

  1. Plug in your Kookaberry or Pico H via USB
  2. Click “Connect” in KookaBlocs
  3. Select the Kookaberry/Pico H port (e.g. “CDC COM4”)
  4. Begin coding and interacting with your device!

Saving and Loading Projects

  • KookaBlocs defaults to saving in your user directory
  • Create a sub-folder called, say, “KookaBlocs Scripts” in your Documents folder.
  • To access existing scripts, browse to your Kookaberry Scripts/KookaBlockly folder and copy them into your new sub-folder for ease of access
  • Make sure your filename ends in “.kby.py”
  • If the extension is lost, manually type it in during save

Troubleshooting

  • Press Ctrl+R to refresh the web app if it freezes
  • Restart browser if problems persist
  • KookaBlocs does not work fully in Safari or Netscape (use Chrome/Edge instead)
